I’ve been on a classic horror icons kick lately. This latest piece was done in the same fashion as my Bela Lugosi drawing. I first did a pencil sketch (which I posted on Twitter HERE), then inked on a sheet of vellum over the pencils. My weapons of choice were my brush pen and my fountain pen for the finer lines. The ever trusty Sharpie was brought in for the heavy black areas.
I chose to depict Boris Karloff as the Mummy mostly because the more famous Frankenstein’s Monster has been done a lot. I felt the Mummy would be a much more challenging character to render, and therefore a little more educational on my part.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these random illustrations I’ve been posting here. If you ever want to keep in the loop with my random sketches as they happen, follow my Twitter feed at http://www.twitter.com/marctoons.
